General laughter enveloped the Senate, yesterday, when Senator Shehu Sani of Kaduna Central Senatorial District mocked the minority leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, over his foreign medical trip.

Akpabio had after an auto crash in Abuja, few weeks ago, rushed abroad to seek medication.

Speaking at the floor, Akpabio told his colleagues that after the crash, President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice president Yemi Osinbajo called to console him. He thanked the president, vice president and all his colleagues for their concern.

But while speaking, Sani said he was surprised that Akpabio abandoned the first class hospital he built in Akwa Ibom when he was governor of the state.
“When he had the accident, I went to Akwa Ibom in order to see him but I was told that he has been flown to London, and not the first class hospital he built in the state,” he said.
The statement of Sani, a human rights activist, threw his colleagues into a general laughter which lasted for some minutes.

Defending Akpabio, and eliciting yet another round of laughter at the chambers, Senator Philip Aduda, (PDP, FCT), said: “Let me make it clear that the minority leader was on his way to London when the accident happened. So it was not that he abandoned the hospital he built in Akwa Ibom.”
