Balance of Abacha’s Loot Now $26m, £19m – FG

imageThe federal government said the balance of the loot recovered from the late former Head of State General Sani Abacha was $26, 000, 389 million and £19,000, 033 million as of November 30, 2015.
The Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, yesterday disclosed this to the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
Briefing State House journalists later, Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom said Abacha loots as “at November 2015 ending has a balance of $26, 000, 389 million; while the pounds sterling has a balance of £19,000,033,000.00. That is where we are today.”
Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal said the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Godwin Emefiele told the council Nigeria’s reserve “currently stands at $29 billion” because of fuel price crash.
Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku said the Accountant-General of the Federation told the council that the Excess Crude proceeds stood at $2.257 billion as of November 30, 2015.
