“Don’t forget I am now in Abuja where the tribunal is”.

The eventual emergence of freshman, Aniekan Uko as speaker of the 6th Akwa Ibom House of Assembly may have appeared to settle all dusts between the pro-Akpabio camp and the O-19 camp; but an impending fresh rift between ex-governor Akpabio and his successor, Governor Udom Emmanuel might be the next drama to watch out for in the state’s polity.

Inside source revealed that aside the fact that Barr Onofiok Luke eventually did not emerge to take over the 6th assembly leadership, Akpabio is unhappy with the outcome of the speakership tussle, as the contest failed to favour his preferred choice, Barr Ime Okon.

It is gathered that the aggrieved pro-Akpabio camp is already heaping the blames on Emmanuel, for failing to act the script written to him by his benefactor, Akpabio. Sources disclosed that Emmanuel was specifically instructed him to impose Ime Okon, against Barr Luke, who was favoured by majority to win the seat.

It was gathered that shortly after the 6th assembly inauguration, Emmanuel had reached out to his benefactor to inform him of the outcome of the contest. However, Akpabio who had been furnished with the details of what happened, reportedly snubbed his calls.

Consequently, Akpabio, the source claimed, called for a meeting in Abuja on the night of his inauguration at the National Assembly.

The meeting had many of Akpabio’s loyalists, including the immediate past special duties commissioner, Barr Emmanuel Enoidem in attendance.

Sources disclosed that after the meeting, Akpabio called Emmanuel and gave him a piece of his mind. According to sources, part of Akpabio was reported to have threatened to move against Emmanuel at the election tribunal. “You have refused to be the listening son I thought you would be. But let me remind you that the election tribunal has been moved to Abuja, and I will work against you if you insist on going out of line,”.

Meanwhile, some Akwa Ibom indigenes have postulated that the feud is likely to culminate into a full fledge war, as Akpabio is believed to be unhappy that the speaker is a core member of the O-19 camp and might be putting up a fresh plot to upturn things, even as a stronger O-19 camp is likely to put up brick walls against his plots.
