OYO: Alao-Akala Advises Buhari Against Campaigning For Ajimobi

Following the planned visit of General Muhammadu Buhari to Oyo State to shore up support for Governor Abiola Ajimobi, former governor Adebayo Alao-Akala yesterday advised the president-elect against such action, saying that the Governor does not deserve such treatment as “he campaign for President Goodluck Jonathan against General Buhari”.
He said that the Governor was shocked to hear the news of Buhari’s success in last Saturday’s election, adding that “moving with an Abiola Ajimobi may stain the hard-earned integrity of the former head of States because the Governor has yet to clear himself of several allegations hanging on his neck”.
Alao-Akala who reacted through his director of public affairs, Oludare Ogunlana, said that “It is on record that Ajimobi’s penchant for financial misconduct is second to none. This is a Governor who constructed a flyover at an obnoxious amount of N2.9 billion while his brother from the same All Progressives Congress (APC) constructed a dual one in Ogun State at the cost of N1.5 billion.
image“Not long ago, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi’ was allegedly arrested in London for money laundering. The Governor is yet to clear himself and his family of that allegation. If it was not true, what is delaying him from taking legal action to clear himself of the allegation?.
“The Four-Points Hotels he proposed is still in paper. Deliberately to siphon money through his cronies, he gave N500million counterpart fund to his friends who were handling the project but they have ran away. The only thing they were able to do was an uncompleted fence. Where is the N500 million given to the contractors? This sum alone can be used in revamping the educational and health sector. It is because he is insensitive; if not, he would not have committed such amount to an hotel project her critical sectors continue to be in limbo. The same is for the Technical University whose location is still unknown.”
He, therefore, noted that it would be counter-productive for Buhari if he associates with Ajimobi. “During the electioneering process, Ajimobi neither wax any jingle nor print any poster for Buhari’s campaign until the last minutes when the party leadership confronted him. His wife on the other hand was busy gallivantinghand, travelling with the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan while wives of other APC chieftains were with Buhari’s wife campaigning.
“It would be dangerous for Buhari to stake his life for somebody who did not campaign for him; somebody who was in London throughout the duration of the campaign enjoying the loot from our treasury while Governors like Aregbesola were moving from ward to local government campaigning for Buhari. Everybody is waiting for Buhari to be sworn-in on May 29, 2015. He should not allow anybody to stain him”, he warned.
