Operators in the transport sector have been urged to work within specified regulations or face the wrath of the law.
The Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi gave the order in a message to the strategic action plan and inauguration of the Motor Dealers Association of Nigeria in Abuja.
He said the era of the operators to see government activities as avenue where nothing worked was gone.
According to him, there would be tough penalty for those cutting corners in the sector.
The minister charged the association to ensure that importation of used vehicles into the country was carried out within the law.
Amaechi pointed out that the support of the association would not go unnoticed as they provided employment opportunity for the teeming youths of Nigeria.
The minister congratulated the newly elected members of the association and assured that the present administration would soon unveil strategic plans in some of the critical sectors.
National President of the association, Engineer Ajibola Adedoyin urged the government to carry out a review of its automotive policy in order to avoid the failure in the implementation of the policy.
According to him, policy needed to be properly formulated before its implementation.
