This followed fresh moves by some of the out-going governors on the platform of the party to ensure the removal from office of the Adamu Mu’azu-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.
It was gathered that as a result of the latest moves, Mua’zu, who used to be addressed as the “game changer” travelled out of the country, to tactically evade being forced to summon a meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party where the decision to remove him may be adopted.
Mu’azu is being accused of having led the party in a poor outing at the March/April general elections. However, he has since debunked such allegations saying that the “know it all” attitude of the governors and other leaders of the party worked against the fortunes of the PDP.
The presidency, however, said it was aware of Mu’azu’s trip as he might have informed President Goodluck Jonathan of his journey abroad.
Meanwhile, some party members disclosed that Mu’azu’s decision to travel out of the country at the height of the internal crisis facing his leadership of the party, is designed to frustrate the plot to remove him from office.
A member of the NWC of PDP also revealed that other key members of the NWC would soon begin to disappear from Abuja as part of the game plan for dousing the heat within the party.
He said the plot to remove Mu’azu and eventually sack the NWC will lose steam when no key official of the party is found around to give vent to unceasing accusations being levelled against the NWC by some of the aggrieved members of the PDP particularly the out-going governors that are desirous of taking over the leadership of the party.
