The Chief Medical Director of the University College Hospital, UCH, Professor Temitope Alonge, yesterday, announced that the nation’s number one teaching hospital will bear all the bills incurred while treating Elder Moses Olaiya popularly called Baba Sala.

This was revealed by the Public Relations Officer of the hospital, Mr Deji Bobade.

According to Bobade, Alonge, who paid a visit to the veteran comedian on his sick bed told family members who were attending to him “UCH will pay up the cost of treating Baba. We decided to do this because he is a national hero, who should be made to enjoy now that he is old. He served this country to the best of his ability. He deserves to be honoured and respected.”

Another source who was present at the hospital, said although Baba Sala could not speak much, he still managed to express his appreciation to Professor Alonge and others on his entourage for deeming it fit to honour him with the gesture.

Said the source, “Baba was appreciative and it even made him to feel more responsive to some of the drugs being administered on him. His doctors asked him not to speak too much though”

Baba Sala also took to his Facebook page to thank all his fans and other Nigerians who have been praying for his quick recovery.

The ace comedian was rushed to the hospital from his Ilesa, Osun State base last Monday evening, but he is responding to treatment. His ailment is reported to be old age related.
