Captain Hosa Honoured With Prestigious Lafayette Award At UN Day For Global Peace

Only veritable champions write history. Sometimes they rewrite it. But very few champs excite the splendid tribute of a cheer in the wake of their most glorious feats. Captain Idahosa Okunbo, the billionaire businessman and chairman of Ocean Marine Security Limited, an offshore asset protection company, OMS, effortlessly commands the relentless tribute of a cheer from far and near.

The philantropist wears his strength like a badge of honour, on his chest; shining it with sweat, because that’s what virtuous men do. He stands tall, wading through odds with the courage of a knight and confidence of a champion.

He makes history every hour, to which he industriously adds page after page, volume after volume, as if nature were holding up a monument to his exploits. In an era beleaguered by infamy of the human species, Okunbo’s handiwork unfurl as undying tribute to mankind’s better nature.

And, it is no surprise that a few days after he signed a mouth-watering Financing and Technical Services Agreement (FTSA) deal worth $876m with CMES-OMS Petroleum Development Company Ltd (CDPC) for the development of Oil Mining Lease (OML) 65, a Nigerian Petroleum Development Company Ltd, NPDC, asset, the respected businessman has been honoured in faraway Geneva, Switzerland, with a global peace award.
Earlier today, Captain Hosa as he is popularly known was bestowed with the prestigious Order of Lafayette award at the United Nations day for Global Peace. The Order of Lafayette is a patriotic, hereditary, nonpartisan, and fraternal organization established in New York City in 1958 by Colonel Hamilton Fish III (1888-1991), a former Congressman from New York and decorated veteran of the First World War.
Captain Hosa was especially honoured for his distinguished role in encouraging, engendering and entrenching peace and harmony in Africa and the world at large. He was presented with his award by His Excellency, Robert Blum, chairman of the Order of Lafayette Awards. Present at the auspicious and exclusive awards presentation were diplomats and political and economic leaders from all over the world who had all come to celebrate with one of their own.

Indeed, among a pantheon of giants, Dr.Okunbo, towers above others. Like the rare and golden hummingbird, sighted in lush and precious emerald beaches, he ornaments his exemplary existence with gestures and exploits that dazzle like ethereal treasure. He presents a rare contradiction to the notion that titans are only appreciated in death. He is a titan.

He is very much alive and has become a legend in the hearts and minds of men. Stories are told of his greatness; echoes of his philanthropy are fed like fodder to the masses. In a land dogged by human and infrastructural lapses, his humanity and entrepreneurial ingenuity nourish the glands of kith and kin even as his genius oils the wheels of industry.

This is why he is perpetually on song, among his clan and league of extraordinary men. Hosa emerges as the perfect symbol of business excellence and he is seen at home and abroad, as a historic figure, the personification of a business calculus within Nigeria and the African continent.

Indeed, it is a double celebration for the former Nigeria Airways pilot who has blazed peerless trails in the world of business. His recent deal with the NPDC, according to the managing director, Mansur Sambo, was necessitated by the need to boost the nation’s crude oil reserves and daily oil production.
At the signing ceremony tagged ‘the $876 Million Financing and Technical Service Agreement (FTSA)’, Sambo said, “The significance of this agreement is to open up production potentials of the OML 65 from 9,000 to 40,000 barrels per day.” He further stated that the deal has the potential “to explore, appraise and add reserves to base,” adding that it would help the Federal Government to “earn more than $6 billion in taxes and royalties.” He also guaranteed that the project would engage indigenous companies in the industry for ancillary services, thereby providing direct and indirect job opportunities.
While expressing his delight about the deal, which offers his company the opportunity to support the production and reserves growth aspiration of the Federal Government, Captain Hosa assured on the CPDC’s competence and its adoption of efficient technologies in meeting set targets.
