Editor of Daily Independent Newspapers, Mr Rotimi Durojaiye has resigned his appointment from the ailing organisation, he has since moved up as Executive Editor, NewsDirect Newspapers.

Durojaiye, whose resignation takes effect from June 1, 2015, has many years of robust journalism to his experience and is expected to bring his vast connection to bear and to the advantage of NewsDirect.

It could be recalled that the management style at Daily Independent has led to the exit of quality hands from the Newspaper’s stable, the recent being the exit of the Sunday Editor, Habib Aruna late last year.

Aruna and Mojeed Jamiu, another former Deputy Editor of Daily Independent, are the publishers of www.upshotreportsonline.com, an online platform with bias for Business and Politics reporting.

Habib Aruna is the Chief Press Secretary Designate to the Lagos State Governor-elect, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, he is expected to resume duties on May 29,2015.

Durojaiye and Aruna left the Newspaper under similar circumstances, which they both described as unproductive and redundant postings for their calibre of top level cadre staff under the Ted Iwere-led management.

Daily Independent Newspapers is owing a backlog of about 20 months salary arrears.
