An Airbus A380 belonging to Emirates made an unexpected landing in Warsaw, Wednesday morning, after one of the passengers on board needed emergency medical attention.
The ELITES gathered that the Emirates flight EK222 from Dallas to Dubai had to make the landing at 5.45 am local time after a 55-year-old Nigerian citizen on board, identified as Mr Ayodele, suffered a stroke. He was transported to a hospital immediately upon landing.
Sadly though, Ayodele passed on few hours after being admitted to the hospital.
Meanwhile, one of the A380’s wheels was damaged during the landing, with passengers having to disembark and waiting in nearby hotels for a replacement aircraft which has since been dispatched from Dubai to collect the travellers.
This is the first time an Airbus A380 – the world’s largest passenger aircraft – has landed at Chopin Airport. Four years ago, a Lufthansa A380 landed in Warsaw. (jb)
