Excitement As Buhari’s Comedian Doppelganger, MC Tagwaye Welcomes First Baby

+ Wife, Hauwa Is The Daughter of Justice Mohammed and Maryam Uwais

Nigerian comedian, Obinna Simon, popularly known as MC Tagwaye, who is known for mimicking President Muhammadu Buhari, has announced the birth of his first child, a baby girl.

His wife, Hauwa Uwais, was delivered of the baby on Friday, December 10, 2021. The baby has been named Maryam Iruoma Nadia.

MC Tagwaye who has a twin brother, is from Anambra State, but he was born and raised in Katsina State, while his wife hails from Kaduna State. He shot into the limelight seven years ago, after he mimicked Buhari reacting to criticisms in a clip, over which he was later dubbed the president’s doppelganger for accurately imitating his mannerism.

This is coupled with the fact that he shares an uncanny striking resemblance with the president.

On Saturday, 13 June, 2020, Tagwaye got married to Hauwa, the daughter of Justice Mohammed Uwais, the former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria; and Hajiya Maryam Uwais, the special adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on social investments.

Hajia Uwais is the daughter of Ambassador Isa Wali, the former Nigerian Ambassador to the United States. Following the death of her father in 1967, her mother, Hajia Zainab got married to Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki, the former Sultan of Sokoto. Having lost her father when she was barely eight, Maryam and her elder sister, Arc. Fatima Wali Abdurrahman grew up to know Alhaji Dasuki as their father.

Meanwhile, Hajia Uwais also broke the news of her granddaughter’s arrival in a photograph-laden statement on her Instagram page. She wrote:

“On the 10th of December this year, I didn’t post anything on my birthday. I was busy celebrating the bestest birthday gift ever. I got me the loveliest granddaughter, born same day…though 62 years apart. Guess what? She was named Maryam! Her other names are Iruoma Nadia. But Maryam first and foremost.

I’m truly humbled and immensely grateful to my son, Obinna, and daughter, Hauwa, for this uncommon honour. I beg, help me thank them. Not everyday you get a grandchild, born same day, named after you.

“I pray that this child shall surpass everything we ever achieved in this world. She shall make us proud and be a source of joy and blessings for us. I pray for Allah’s direction, mercy and protection all the days of her life.

“Henceforth, the 10th of December is Lil Maryam’s day. Gladly easing from the scene, for the younger ones. It is time.”
