-The Intimate World of the Erudite Scholar, Professor Buraimoh-Igbo
Yesterday, Friday, January 30, 2015, the remains Professor Liliwan Ademola Buraimoh-Igbo were committed to mother’s earth today in Lagos. Prominent dignitaries, drawn from every facet of the society, defies the downpour and the horrendous traffic logjam, occasioned by the APC Presidential Rally, as they turned out in large numbers to pay their last respect to the erudite scholar.
Professor Buraimoh-Igbo was the father of Princess Yewande Ajiun Anifowose Marshal, the Canada-based, beautiful wife of the Fuji Czar, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, K1 De Ultimate.
The renowned professor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering died in the early hours of Tuesday, November 18, 2014, after a brief illness. He was ages 80.
The funeral rites of Professor Buraimoh-Igbo began on Thursday, January 29, with a Christian Wake- Keep, which was held at his home in Amuwo Odofin, Lagos. On Friday, the Church Service took place at Saint Jude’s Cathedral, Ebute Meta. This was later followed by a grand reception at 10 Degree Event Centre, Oregun, Ikeja. The guests were entertained by Kolade Onanuga, (aka K2), a strong and loyal musical progeny of K1 De Ultimate.
Professor Buraimoh-Igbo’s famous son-in-law, K1 De Ultimate led a high powered delegation, made up of his mother, siblings, close friends and loyal fans to the very grand party.
Born in July 1934, Buraimoh-Igbo’s father was from the prestigious Buraimoh – Igbofidudusola family of Isale Gangan, while his mother was from the Salvador Family Brazilian Quarters of Tokunboh Street, both in Lagos Island.
To many, Professor Buraimoh-Igbo lived a well rounded life. As an academic, acquisition of knowledge was his second nature and this was evident in the array of degrees he obtained. He was a former Head of Department, Electronics and Electrical Engineering University of Ife Ile – Ife, President of the Staff Club, OAU, Ile – Ife, Former ASUU Secretary, OAU, Ile-Ife Chapter. He retired in 1999 at the age of 65 from OAU, Ile Ife, OSUN State, where he served meritoriously since 1964.
Buraimoh-Igbo became a Chartered Engineer in the United Kingdom and a registered Engineer of the Council of Engineering Institutions Royal Charter, Institution of Electrical Engineers Chartered Electrical Engineer. He was a member of the Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineering IEEE, the Nigerian Society of Engineers MNSE, the Council of Registered Engineers of Nigeria COREN, Registered Engineer in Nigeria and was also, a member of the United States EAI Computer User’s Group.
He was also a member of Island Club Lagos
The late erudite scholar was married to Mrs Folashade Buraimoh – Igbo, who died some years back. He is survived by four children- Abimbola, Ibijoke, Adebayo and Yewande and many grandchildren.
