Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Peter Ayodele Fayose earlier today paid a homage visit to a former governor of the old western region, General Adeyinka Adebayo(Rtd) at his Iyin Ekiti residence.
Welcoming the octogenarian back home after his short trip, the governor used the opportunity of the visit to reel out account of his stewardship to the elder statesman.
“I will want to tell you sir, that the state is moving well. There is peace. Those engaged in kidnapping, most of them have been arrested. Since I came on board, I have not been owing workers’ salaries. In spite of all the challenges, we are moving ahead, the people are happy and I am sure these are some of the things you will want to know because I know the wellbeing and welfare of the people are sources of your concern” the governor said.
As regards politics, Gov. Fayose said “we thank God so far so good, we have extended hands of fellowship to all our brothers, you know politics the way it is, you can’t please all but you do your best and must be seen to be doing your best “.
Responding, Pa Adebayo who said he knows the enormity of the task of leading the people of Ekiti, especially in the face of dwindling revenue/allocation described the governor’s visit as a “great honour” stressing that he’s proud of the governor’s works and achievements so far.
“You can’t satisfy everyone but you are doing your best, government cannot do everything for everybody. People will criticise you but don’t be discouraged”, General Adebayo said.
General Adebayo further commended the governor for doing well, in satisfying the people of the state in spite of the meagre resources accruing to the state. He noted that he has been following the trend of things in Yorubaland and particularly in Ekiti state.
The elder statesman expressed his willingness to contribute his quota to the development of the state. He urged the governor not to hesitate in letting him know whenever such needs arise, stressing saying that, though he might not have the money, he has the necessary contact.
