A few days ago, the Lagos social circuit was thrown into a mourning mood, over the death of Alhaja Monsurat Adunni Olasumbo Adebayo, the famous society lady and businesswoman.

She died on Thursday, June 11. She was aged 50.

The deceased once lived in Chicago, the United States, for so many years, and she made her mark as a notable socialite and businesswoman. This earned her the sobriquet, Monsurat Chicago during her lifetime.

Left to mourn Monsurat Chicago are her twin sons, aged mother, siblings and many friends. Her best friends, Yinka Omoniyi and Ayinke Caro, and other close friends, are beside themselves with grief. So also is Toyin Igbira, her godmother.

The ELITES gathered that Monsurat Chicago was hale and healthy during the last few days preceding her death. Few days before her death, she had hosted a befitting 75th birthday for her mother, and even attended a couple of parties.

Tragically, Monsurat Chicago never woke from her slept. Her lifeless body was found in the early hours of that fateful Thursday.

The remains of the admirable society lady were later interred on that Thursday, in accordance with Islamic injunction, at her home in Ikotun Egbe.
