Barely 24 hours after the inauguration of Lagos State University Students Union Executives and parliamentarians, the vice chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, has held an inaugural meeting with representatives of the Bodies.

The meeting, which held in the vice Chancellor’s Office, on Tuesday, demonstrated the commitment of the professor of Physiology to strengthening existing cordial relationship with the students.

In the words of the vice chancellor, “Disputes can only be resolved by dialogue not confrontation and disruption of activities. If you have issues, let me know. I am only a phone call away. We are here because of you. If you are not here, we don’t have a job”, she said to the elation of the students leaders who were led to the meeting by the president, Comrade Adelakun Adeoye Moses and Speaker, Students Parliamentary Council, Rt. Hon. Opemipo Bamgbopa.

At the request of the students leaders, the vice chancellor graciously approved a reduction in the proposed hostel fee of students of the Epe Campus of the university to Fifteen Thousand Naira (N15,000) from the initial Twenty Thousand Naira (N20,000) for the old hostels and Forty Thousand Naira (N40,000) for new hostels. The new hostels was initially set at Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000).

The vice chancellor also cleared the air on the deadline for payment of school fees, noting that payment of school fees for returning students will last till Monday 9th September 2022 before the penalty for late payment is enforced.

The president, Comrade Adelakun, while thanking the vc for her magnanimity assured that the Union will continue to maintain peace on campus. He said “We see that you are doing your very best to take care of us ma. We will always work to entrench the peace of Campus. We won’t have any form of disruption to activities.”

The meeting also had in attendance acting dean of the Students Affairs Division, Dr. Tajudeen Olumoko and the Division’s deputy registrar, Mrs. Ashiru-Mobolaji, as well as the senior aides of the vice chancellor.
