In his quest to clinch the PDP ticket in the coming gubernatorial election in Kogi State, Captain Idris Wada left no stone unturned, in getting the delegates to vote for him.

A delegate who participated in the PDP primaries in Lokoja, Kogi State capital, disclosed that “Governor Wada spent a princely N370,400,000 ( Three Hundred and Seventy Million, Four Hundred Thousand) on the 926 delegates.

According to the delegate, “The governor promised us N500,000 each, but the team leaders deducted N100, 000 each for logistics and the balance of N400, 000 was given to us on Monday morning”.

He also added that “the governor promised to do more if we vote for him that a vote for Echocho is a wasted vote because Echocho can’t match him money for money”

It was gathered that each delegate received N400, 000 from a team of Wada’s aides, led by Engineer Oshanusi, the Commissioner for Water Resources in an attempt to boost the chances of the governor against his main challenger Jibrin Isah Echocho. It was also gathered that the Gov. Wada bankedon his hatchet men to do the job for him, hence the massive mobilisation of resources to execute the project.

Another source who spoke, described the largesse from the governors’ camp as “uncharitable” in the light of the fact that the state has been unable to pay staff salaries and in some instances workers collect 25% of their salaries.

It would be recalled that Kogi State received the highest bailout fund of N50 billion from the Central Bank of Nigeria last month to be able to meet its obligations to its workforce.
