Kwara State Govt. Cancels Independence Parade Over Security Concern

imageThe Kwara State Government has cancelled the 55th Independence Anniversary parade, previously scheduled to hold at the Metropolitan Square, Ilorin, today.

In a statement issued last night, the Secretary to the Government of Kwara State, Alhaji Sola Isiaka Gold, said the cancellation follows security reports that certain individuals arrived the state overnight with the intention of unlawfully disrupting the independence day celebration and endangering lives.

Alhaji Gold regretted any inconvenience that may be caused by the canceled celebration but stressed that the government considers public safety more paramount.
