Lagos PMAN Endorses Ambode For Second Term

The leadership of the Lagos State chapter of Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) in the 20 Local Government Areas (LGA) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDA) in the state have endorsed Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for a second term in office.

Rising from a meeting on Monday, the musicians expressed their unflinching support for the re-election bid of the governor, vowing to mobilise its members across the state to vote en masse for him in 2019.

Speaking with newsmen, Governor-General of the association, Sir Kareem Ayinde Olomide Osoba a.k.a. Kabiyesi, assured the governor of the support of his members.

According to him, “musicians plying their trade in Lagos, seeing the good works of Governor Ambode since he took over the leadership of the state, are appreciative and ready to help him do more by ensuring his re-election.

He highlighted the feats achieved by Governor Ambode, citing provision of modern health facilities, social amenities, roads, bridges at Abule-Egba and Ajah as well as infrastructural development all around the state.

The PMAN boss, however, used the opportunity of the occasion to appeal to the governor to consider a downward review of his government’s tax regime, which he said seems to be burdensome.

“While we are not saying that government should not collect taxes to boost its internally generated revenue, it is observed that some of them are somehow obnoxious.

“Lagos State is so blessed that it can generate enormous revenue from other sectors instead of imposing heavy taxes on its citizens and from the ways things are going now, we are afraid, many small scale businesses may soon go into extinction,” Olomide, a top Fuji musician and hotelier, noted.

He urged the residents of the state to continue to support Ambode’s administration by paying their taxes and other dues promptly.
