Lagos Society Honours Adebisi Abiola, Matriarch of The MKO Abiola Family As She Buries Mother Today

The matriarch of the Moshood Olawale Kashimawo Abiola family, Chief (Mrs) Adebisi Maryam Abiola is bereaved. She lost her mother, Princess Alice Olayemi Oshin

Mama Oshin, a native of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, died on 31 October 2015. She was aged 99.

Mama Oshin will be buried today, Friday, 20 November 2015, at the Ikoyi Vault and Gardens. This will then be followed by a reception at Landmark Centre, Victoria Island.

The lying-in-state and funeral service will hold at Our Saviour’s Church, Tafawa Balewa Square, TBS, Lagos.

The Service of Songs and Wake Keep took place on Thursday, November 19, at City Hall, Catholic Mission, Lagos Island.

Adebisi Abiola holds the revered title of the Yeye Ori Ade of Lagos. The 64-year old matriarch is the mother of Ayobami, Tundun Atta, Bola Akande, and two other girls. Notable among the society matriarchs who are her close friends are Fatima Adegunwa, Hafusat Baby Oshinusi, Afsat Saro, Omolara Jinadu, Bola Shagaya and many others.

The burial party will follow a colour dictate of green, yellow and gold. The main Aso-ebi for the event is a pair of original version of Sagoe Gele, directly sourced from Mrs Modupe Sagoe.
