The minister of information, culture and tourism, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has been described as an epitome of sincerity, integrity and diligence.
This was the description of him by guests at a reception ceremony in his honour by family and friends shortly after his inauguration as Honourable Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking at the event, former Governor of Kwara State, Chief Cornelius Adebayo, who doubled as the chairman of the occasion said Alhaji Mohammed’s foray into politics remains a source of blessing to the people of Nigeria.
‘‘His journey started when he was appointed as Chief of Staff in Lagos State by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and when he left to contest as governor of Kwara State, he didn’t win the election and I knew that it wasn’t his time not that he wasn’t good enough’’, said Adebayo.
The former minister of communication said he has kept close contact with Alhaji Mohammed and he could tell that the man is dedicated to the project Nigeria.
The National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Muiz Banire said Alhaji Lai Mohammed truly deserved the nomination into the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari
‘‘If there’s anyone among the ministers that genuinely worked for the position, that person is Alhaji Lai Mohammed. I always wonder where he gets the energy to carry on with enormous task that was placed on his shoulders’’, Banire said.
The APC National Legal Adviser however admonished the minister to do more for the country in the discharge of his duties. He reminded him that millions of Nigerians who trust him will be on the lookout for his performance as minister.
Other speakers include the Kwara State chairman of APC, Alhaji Ishola Balogun-Fulani who said Alhaji Lai Mohammed is a impeccable character.
Speaking of his personal encounter with him, when Kwara and few States in the North Central agitated for the position of the President of the Senate, Balogun-Fulani said he met Alhaji Mohammed at the APC national headquarters, delivered a protest letter to him and response he got from the minister was very soothing.
Other dignitaries at the reception include senators Gbemisola Saraki, Members of the House of Representatives from Lagos and Kwara States, members of the Lai Mohammed family, his wife, Mrs. Adeoti Mohammed and children.
Alhaji Mohammed, expressed happiness at the kind gesture of the organizers and he promised to contribute his quota towards the realization of President Muhammadu Buhari’s agenda for the country.
