A Federal High Court sitting in Damaturu, Yobe State capital, has certified Bashir Sheriff Machina as the authentic candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Yobe North Senatorial District in the 2023 elections.

The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan had been claiming when he did not participate in the APC senatorial primaries.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had also refuse to recognise either of Lawan and Machina as the authentic candidate pending the court ruling.
