…Floyd Mayweather parties in Miami as he continues to enjoy his retirement
…Manny Pacquiao suggests a rematch between the pair is still on the cards
…However, Mayweather’s manager insists he will stay in retirement
…Amir Khan considers himself the frontrunner to face Pacquiao next year
He is well and truly retired, or so he says, but talk of a rematch with Manny Pacquiao still won’t go away for Floyd Mayweather.
The undefeated fighter was partying in Miami at the King of Diamonds club, complete with his trademark stacks of cash, where a bottle of vodka can cost anything up to $600 (£392), as he continued to enjoy his freedom.
Earlier, he had also taken to Instagram to post a picture of himself and legendary boxer Sugar Ray Leonard, writing: ‘FloydMayweather and @sugarrayleonard ran into each other today #BoxingGreats #LivingLegends.’
Meanwhile, Pacquiao has continued to suggest that another fight between the pair is on the cards.
Mayweather beat Pacquiao on points in May this year, before ending his career with a victory over Andre Berto last month.
He has dismissed talk of a 50th fight on several occasions, but Pacquiao, who is still planning for one more bout before his retiring himself next year, said: ‘I don’t know yet who’s my opponent next but we’re still negotiating right now about the rematch with Floyd Mayweather so hoping for that.’
The 36-year-old still feels aggrieved over his defeat to Mayweather, claiming after the fight that a shoulder injury denied him the chance to properly test his opponent.
However, Mayweather’s manager Leonard Ellerbe denied rumours of a comeback, tweeting earlier this week: ‘Mayweather is retired, end of discussion’.
A far more likely opponent for Pacquiao next year is Amir Khan, who has been talking up the prospects of facing the Filipino fighter.
‘I am the front-runner,’ Khan told BBC Sport.
‘Manny Pacquiao makes a good story because we’ve been training partners and I’ve been with his coach Freddie Roach.
‘There’s a big chance of the fight happening, it’s all about making sure my team is on point with the deal and they need to make sure they get the fight that I want.’
