Mr Mutiu Sunmonu has been appointed Chairman, Board of Directors, Julius Berger Nigeria (JBN) Plc following the resignation of AVM Nurudeen Imam.
Head, Media Relations Office of JBN Plc, Mr Moses Duku, announced yesterday in Abuja that the appointment took place during the company’s board meeting recently.

“At the last Board of Directors meeting of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, AVM (Dr.) Nurudeen Imam (CFR) resigned and Mr. Mutiu Sunmonu, CON was elected and appointed as the new chairman of the board of Directors of the company with effect from April 1, 2016,” Duku revealed.
The out-going chairman, Imam was quoted as saying he “retired as a member and Chairman of the Board of Directors to give the younger generation the opportunity to lead and take the company forward into the new millennium”.
Mr Sunmonu graduated from the University of Lagos in 1977 with a First Class Honours degree in Mathematics and Computer Science.
He joined Royal Dutch Shell Plc in 1978. In 1990, he proceeded to Shell UK Expro Aberdeen. He was later appointed Manager of Southern Swamp Area.
Upon retirement from Shell, Sunmonu joined the Board of JBN Plc as a director on January 1, 2015.
The new chairman pledged to deploy his wealth of experience to work and build upon the worthy foundations and entrepreneurial legacy of his predecessors and take JBN Plc in the right direction.
