Netflix Takes Kunle Afolayan’s OCTOBER 1 To Global Stage

Ace film maker, Kunle Afolayan has once again recorded another first with his new film, imageOCTOBER 1. This is on account of a new deal with the World leading online movie retailer, Netflix to list the film as one of its movies in the box office. The deal is significant because the film represents first Independent African movie to ever been listed by Netflix and it’s going to enjoy worldwide viewership. The deal according to insiders is to last for two years with Europe and America as it’s primary target. Sources say the deal worth several thousands of dollars with a year of exclusivity to Netflix.
With more than 50 million streaming member, Netflix is America based company established in 1997. Netflix is the world’s leading Internet television network with over 57 million members in nearly 50 countries enjoying more than two billion hours of TV shows and movies per month, including original series, documentaries and feature films. Members can watch as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, on nearly any Internet-connected screen. Members can play, pause and resume watching, all without commercials or commitments.

It would be recalled that October1 has been adjudged by many as one of the best films ever to come from Africa with several awards to its credit. Most significant is AMVC awards where the film has 13 nominations in top categories as best film, best director, best cinematography, best feature film and best set design among others. Also at the Africa International Film Festival, the film won three top awards as best script, screen and directing. Few weeks back, Afolayan also bagged the prestigious Man of the Year in Entertainment by The Sun newspaper.
