Reps Member, Musa Baba Onwana Dies At 50

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, has expressed deep shock at the sudden death of a member of the House, Hon. Musa Baba Onwana.

Onwana, before his demise, represented Nasarawa/Toto Federal Constituency of Nasarawa State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He died yesterday at the age of 50.

A statement issued by Dogara’s spokesman, Mr. Turaki Hassan, quoted the Speaker as describing the late lawmaker as calm, peace loving and a good family man.

“Hon. Onwana was a patriot and a true Nigerian who was always championing the cause of his people in the House. We have lost a hardworking, committed and dedicated colleague and our hearts go to his immediate family, constituents, government and people of Nasarawa State.

“I pray that almighty God grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” Dogara.

The late Hon. Onwana attended Government Secondary School Karu and graduated in 1979. He then proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he obtained a BSc in Business Administration in 1989 and an MBA in 1994.

He was senior manager, General Services/Logistics at MTEL between 1997-2010, and a lecturer at the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, between 1993-1997. Before then, he was a tutor at Government Secondary School, Nasarawa between 1991-1993.

The late Owana was elected to the House of Representatives in 2011 and re-elected in 2015.
