Robbers Disguise As Patients To Rob Hospitals In Lagos

The police in Lagos on Wednesday arrested two armed robbery suspects who allegedly specialised in disguising as sick persons to rob patients in hospitals.
The suspects identified as Babatunde Bamidele, 25 and Muritala Balogun, 27 were arrested at Ajangbadi after they had allegedly robbed one of the hospitals in the area.

The suspects were among the 23 armed robbery suspects paraded yesterday by the State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, at the command headquarters in Ikeja.
Owoseni disclosed that the suspects pretended to be patients and robbed the hospital staff and patients.
He said: “The gang would pretend as if one of them was injured with plaster pasted on his stomach and rushed him to hospital screaming for help, but immediately they were allowed into the hospital, they would bring out their guns and rob every patient in the hospital of their phones, money and other valuables.”
In his confessional statement, Bamidele said he was introduced to armed robbery by one Ahmed who was at large.
Balogun equally said he was into pick-pocketing when he met Ahmed who introduced him to the hospital robbery.
The police commissioner said the two suspects would soon be charged to court after completion of investigations.
