The stage is set for the hosting of one of the biggest gala events in November where recognition of leadership excellence and award for good work will be given at the maiden edition of the Freelanews Leadership and Entrepreneurship Awards (TheFLEA) set to hold on November 30, 2021 at the prestigious Radisson Blu Hotel, GRA, Ikeja.
According to organizers of the event, 20 deserving individuals, corporate bodies and businesses and brands will be recognized and awarded in different categories for their excellence as well as for their outstanding contribution to humanity.
Among them is the executive governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; the two-term former governor of Ogun State and chairman of Krestal Laurel, Otunba Gbenga Daniel; the FirstBank boss, Adesola Kazeem Adeduntan; the amiable boss of Afkar Printing & Publishing, Dr. Adesola Falaiye and the CEO of First City Monument Bank, Ladi Balogun.
Also, in the list of 20 awardees are the Lagos Special Adviser on Education, Tokunbo Wahab; Nigerian ex-supermodel and celebrity fashion designer, Princess Kelechi Oghene; publisher of Brand Communicator magazine, Joshua Ajayi; veteran and celebrity journalist, Otunba Femi Davies; the Group CEO of Hazon Holdings, Victor Afolabi and the CEO of Bennie Technologies, Jerry Malo.
In his words, the founder of TheFLEA awards, Victor Ojelabi, explained that the night “will be more of a story-telling night, presenting well-researched insights on the activities of the awardees, with informed projections of their impacts on our society within the next decade. These individuals will receive a symbolic gift to remind them of what our collective futures hold because of what they do.”
“Unlike other leadership awards that are based on elections, TheFLEA Awards adopts the plurarist methodology in its selection process to address the eventuality of poor and manipulatable popular opinion. The categories were carefully created to enlist the critical pillars of sustainable development, which are Human Capital Development, Environmental Sustainability, Innovation, Gender-Balance and Shared Value Creation.
“The vision of TheFLEA Awards is to reduce the awards itself to a symbol of remembrance of what our collective future holds if they persist in their good works,” he concluded.
Corporate brands deserving of recognition, according to TheFLEA Awards, include Tony Elemelu Foundation, Paykobo.com, Coca-cola/NBC, Mouka, Fidelity SME, Arise TV, MTN Foundation, WeCyclers and Dangote Refinery.
Prior the awards gala, there will be a leadership session where the Honourable Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, will be giving a keynote address around the theme ‘Visionary Leadership: A Panacea to Nigeria’s Under Development’ where he would be joined with 10 other notable Nigerians in doing justice to the topic in charting a better direction for the country.
