A woman was on Monday executed in the United Arab Emirates by firing squad for the murder in December of an United States school teacher.
The execution was approved by the country’s leader, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the state-run news agency reported.
According to the courts, Ibolya Ryan, 47, was stabbed in a shopping mall toilet by Alaa Al Hashemi, a mother of six.
Al Hashemi was dressed in a traditional black robe, or niqab, and covered from head to foot when she carried out the attack, leading to accusations that she is an Islamic extremist.
However, the incident was captured by security cameras and the case was dealt with under anti-terrorism laws.
According to a ruling handed down in June, the accused had also attempted to use a makeshift bomb to kill another person but failed in her bid.
Report said investigations revealed that she had transferred money to a terrorist organisation.
