Visit To Akande: Ribadu Moves To Join APC

imageThe wind of mass defection into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) may soon blow the former pioneer chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, to the party.

Indications to this effect emerged at the weekend with the meeting of Ribadu and the former pioneer chairman of the APC, Chief Bisi Akande, at his country home in Ila Orangun, Osun State.

Ribadu contested the last governorship election in Adamawa State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and lost to the APC candidate.

It was gathered that the meeting which lasted several hours was held behind closed doors.

But a source hinted that the meeting came to prepare ground for Ribadu’s planned defection into the ruling APC.

The source also added that Ribadu, before meeting Akande, had held a meeting with prominent members of the party in one of the halls in the former Osun Governor’s Lodge.

At the meeting, Ribadu was said to have disclosed his readiness to return to APC, saying the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), on which platform he contested the 2011 presidential poll, was a big factor in today’s ruling mega party.

When contacted last night, the spokesman to Ribadu, Abdulazeez Abdulazeez, denied the development, saying that Ribadu’s visit to Akande was a private affair.

He said,” The visit of Ribadu to Akande was a private one. He was in Osun State to attend a wedding ceremony. But out of respect for Akande, he stopped at his residence to pay his respect. The meeting is not about defection”.
