Why I Dumped PDP For APC -Gbemi Saraki

imageFormer chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Kwara State, Senator Gbemisola Rukayat Saraki has explained why she dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress, APC.
According to Saraki, “The glory belongs to Almighty God that in our lifetime, Nigeria could witness a historical national election with an unprecedented response of the electorates not to the primordial sentiments of ethnicity and religion that have always held us back as a people, (and especially played up in this general elections) but indeed an election determined by the true conscience of Nigerians and the urgent need to rebuild a great nation. Against apprehensions, this general election that we held yesterday is turning out to be a rebirth of our destiny as against the fear of our apocalypse. What we all witnessed yesterday on the queues at the polling booths and on the faces of our people was a renewed consciousness of the electorates to be actively and truly engaged in how we are governed, the manners of our leadership and the need to make our leaders accountable to the citizens as the basis of a true democracy.
When the GRS Movement defected to APC and supported General Muhammadu Buhari as its presidential candidate in the presidential election, it was an emphasis on the need to install a leadership that can reboot our collective faith in our nation and also reinstall decency and accountability in our leaders. Personally, I know that you’d agree with me that the major challenge to our development is the scourge of corruption, which promotes lack of vision for our development and an absence of diligence and patriotism in our leadership. As a start, to overcome the challenge, there must be integrity in our votes such that results of , our elections would be acceptable to all candidates and the nation as the true wishes of the people. When that is achieved, we could be sure that our leaders would be models of our collective aspiration for development and prosperity as a nation.
As we all await the final results of this general election, it’s my solemn prayer that each candidate would display maturity and patriotism in accepting the results as the decisions of Nigerians. In the end, what defines a true leader is the respect for the feelings and wishes of the people as the basis of rebuilding faith in a great Nigeria.
By the glory of the Almighty, Nigeria is on the path of her greatness again.
Alhamdulilah.” she said.
