In a tribute posted on her Instagram page, Francis described her mother as a kind, warm-heart, loving and caring mother who had a generous heart of gold.
Below is the full text of the tribute:
Dear Mum,
Will I ever hug you again, will you call me? I miss you terribly, it hurts deep into my soul. If I could write a story about you, dear mum, it would be the greatest ever told of a kind and warm heart, a loving and caring mother who had a generous heart of gold. Diction fail in providing the right words that would correctly describe your sterling qualities.
You taught me to be generous and God-fearing.
Tears drift down my face, as I write this piece with my heart, fiery from the innermost, telling me that from now on, I will spend the rest of my life here without my loving and encouraging mother.
You fought a strong fight against peritoneal cancer, holding onto God’s words and His promises. Even on your hardest days, you’d say, “I’m just having a no-hair day.” I wish your life had been easier. You had to endure a lot of pain for us.
It is an irreparable loss which has created a vacuum that cannot be filled. You were not only my mother but also my sister, best friend and prayer partner. I hope you are watching over us from heaven. I pray that, all you had prayed for us during your lifetime continue to follow us until our last breath. Life took you away from us, too young. You will always be, our hero unsung.
The awful anguish and grief I have is unlike anything I have ever experienced. No words can express my grief of losing you from my life. Memories of your face, warm smile, large heart and good deeds bring tears to my eyes every minute of the day. I am completely heartbroken that you are gone forever. It is so hard to face reality as it gets closer to the funeral. My sister and I miss you terribly, your grandson, Alexander keeps calling your name.
A mother’s heart is the child’s classroom. I thank God everyday for what she taught me through the years. She was the poster child of a godly mother. My mum taught me to love God. She taught me endurance. Through her example, we learnt to push on even when things seemed impossible. She taught us to always focus on God’s grace and not the sacrifice. She would always say, “It’s not as bad as it looks”. My mum also taught me about faithfulness. Over the years, I have tried to emulate her the best way I could. If you start anything, always make sure to complete it. She also emphasised on the importance of keeping your word. My mother also taught me to take care of others and the difference between right and wrong. While I have made few mistakes during the course of my life, I have always come back to God for forgiveness. These are some of the things I have learnt from my mum. She lives in our hearts forever.
We pray for the repose of your soul, May you find eternal rest and let perpetual light shine upon you, Amen.
Adieu Mum. My heart bleeds.
May your beautiful soul, Rest In Peace Angel Rebecca. Amen
I love you.
