Buhari Appoints Ja’afaru As New Controller-General of Nigeria Prisons

…Babandede As New Immigration Boss

imagePresident Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Mr Ahmed Ja’afaru as the new Controller-General of the Nigeria Prisons Service (NPS).
This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Bassey Akpanyung, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, which was made available on Tuesday in Abuja.
Until his appointment, Ja’afaru was an Assistant Controller General of Prisons and was serving at the Prisons Headquarters in Abuja.
Ja’afaru replaces Dr Peter Ekpendu who retired from service on May 17, 2016 after the mandatory 35 years in service.
The statement said that Ja’afaru’s appointment took effect from May 17, 2016, the day Ekpendu retired from service.

Also, President Buhari has approved the appointment of Mr Mohammed Babandede as the new Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Bassey Akpanyung, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, and made available on Tuesday in Abuja.
Until his appointment, Babandede was a Deputy Comptroller-General (DCG) at the Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters.
Babandede replaces Mr Martin Abeshi, who retired from the Service at the end of his tenure.
The statement said that the appointment of Mohammed Babandede is to take effect from May 15, 2016.
