A commissioner in the Ekiti State Executive Council, Kayode Osho, was reportedly arrested on Tuesday at the premises of the state House of Assembly. Osho oversees the state’s Ministry of Works. Also reportedly arrested along with Osho were Ademola Bello, the Special Adviser to Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State on Political Matters; Adeyanju Oluwole; Raphael Adebayo; Babajide Adebayo; and Wasiu Ogunsakin. Osho and the five others were reportedly arrested with one black colour Ford Hilux with registration number EK 05-B27 and one blue colour Toyota Hilux, with plate number AA 363 YEK, which was stationed at the Prince and Princess junction very close to the Central Bank junction that leads to the House of Assembly.
Sources disclosed that Fayose’s hoodlums were laying ambush for the 19 APC Lawmakers, and they were later arrested and taken to the Police Headquarters. Several weapons were also allegedly recovered from them. They included nine live cartridges, 10 cutlasses and charms. They were also said to be in possession of fake dollars, a carton of Regal dry gin, a parcel of Indian hemp and six small kegs containing kerosene. All the items were recovered from the vehicles. Some thugs, who were with them, reportedly escaped with their charms.
The police also recovered three of the hilux vans used by the thugs while the 4th hilux, blue in colour, ran into a ditch on bank road as the driver made to escape.
Ademola Bello, Ariyo Afolabi and one Femi Ogunleye are the coordinators of Mr. Fayose’s thugs who had been terrorising Ekiti communities since October 2014 when Fayose was sworn in.
There is pressure already on the Commissioner of Police to release them but he was reported to have told Fayose that things have changed.
