…Son’s tweet may have tipped off cops to El Chapo’s hiding spot
Drug kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman is believed to be back in his homeland after a suspected sighting in Mexico last week.
The world’s most wanted crime boss was allegedly spotted in Tabasco, near the border of Guatemala, last Wednesday when witnesses allegedly saw him being rushed to a hospital after being involved in a car crash in Macuspana, according to the Latin Times.
Despite suffering a number of undisclosed injuries, Guzman escaped before federal troops arrived, authorities said.
A medical report obtained by the Latin Times says the man involved in the crash asked to be released from care and left the hospital just minutes before authorities arrived, which caused the whole town to go on high alert.
Moments later, members of the Mexican army and federal police descended on the scene and began canvassing the area, but they were unable to find any traces of Guzman, who currently has a $5 million bounty on his head.
The director of the hospital has publicly denied Guzman was a patient there.
The criminal mastermind made headlines in July when he disappeared from a Mexican prison in an escape that included a motorcycle ride down a mile-long tunnel that had been dug under his cell.
The latest alleged sighting comes days after the Sinaloa Cartel leader’s son, Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar, posted a photo to Twitter of himself and someone who appears to be his father.
