THE memories of family bond of Chief HID Awolowo was re-echoed on Thursday, when the only surviving sibling of the departed, who only got wind of her death On Thursday visited Ikenne.
Lagos-based 94-year-old Pa Festus Taiwo Adelana, was brought into the Efunyela Hall of the Awolowo House, Ikenne, at 3.20 p.m. on a wheelchair.
Pa Adelana could not hide his emotions, as he drew people’s attention to some of the memories of her sister, which he recollected in an emotion laden voice.
Pa Adelana, in an interview with journalists, disclosed that he had been dreaming about his late sister in the last three days, saying he was unaware of his sister’s death until Thursday morning.
He said immediately he knew, he insisted that he be brought to Ikenne to “see things for myself.”
Pa Adelana lamented that the Awolowo matriarch died during this period, stuttering in Yoruba Language that “she (HID) had always said I would be the one to bury her. Oh, she’s gone!
“ She used to take care of me. She loved me and showed it well to me till now. Oh, Idowu is no more.”
