Efforts to fill the vacant stool of Ooni of Ile-Ife may have been in the lull and this might not be unconnected to both internal and external crises that have engulfed the process of selecting and screening of candidate(s) to fill the stool.

After the Osun state government has conveyed its decision and resolution directed the local government to write a letter, asking Giesi Ruling House to present candidate for the vacant stool, the decision has triggered cataclysmic reactions as other ruling houses; Lafogido and Osinkola Ruling Houses have taken legal action challenge the decision and affirmation.
Besides the suit in court, the Giesi Ruling House have been engulfed in crisis thus stalling the selection and screening processes of candidates presented by the ruling house.
All the eight royal compounds within Giesi Ruling House are presently at loggerhead on where and how the candidate should emerge.

As at last count, no fewer than 35 names have been forwarded to the Ife Kingmakers and Ife Local Government Councils by all the eight royal compound with Agbedegbede royal compound having 22 candidates out of the entire list before the kingmakers while others are having either one or two candidates.

Investigation further revealed that seven out of the eight royal compounds in Giesi Royal Compounds have teamed up kicking against the list of names forwarded to the kingmakers.
It was learnt that Moniki; Obiri; Luugba and Idu Oladere royal compound are having only one candidate each, Idu and Maniki is having three candidates while the remaining 22 is from Agbedegbede royal compounds.

It was however learnt that seven royal compounds have kicked against the presentation of 35 names to the kingmakers for consideration claiming that the exercise was skewed to favour a particular royal compound which is Agbedegbede.
