Save Our Members From Fayose’s Thugs, APC Cries To Security Agencies

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has urged security agencies to save members of APC in Imesi-Ekiti, Gbonyin Local Government, and other parts of the state, from incessant attacks by thugs working for Governor Ayodele Fayose and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Publicity Secretary Taiwo Olatubosun, said in a statement that the party had received reports of repeated attacks on APC members in Imesi Ekiti since last Thursday, which still continued till Wednesday evening. The APC spokesman said many APC members were wounded in the town and their houses destroyed while several others were driven to the bush.
“We call on security agents to come to the rescue of APC members whose only offence is that they belong to a different political party.
“We are amazed that the attacks increased and became more vicious on Tuesday after the Supreme Court ruled in Fayose’s favour,” Olatubosun said, adding:
“We had thought that Fayose was sincere about extending olive branch to the opposition while promising to protect all, including members of the opposition. We wonder what else Fayose and his PDP attacking squad want after victory at the apex court.
“Does he want to exterminate all APC members simply because he has been confirmed as the governor? Does he want to become God?”
Olatubosun added that the thugs had expanded the scope of their operations to include attacks on APC members in Ayetoro and Emure-Ekiti on Wednesday.
According to him. APC members were mercilessly beaten and humiliated “for doing nothing”, stressing that it took the intervention of the new Police Commissioner before they were rescued from the PDP thugs.
“We also learnt that a more ferocious attack on our people in Imesi is underway tonight by Mr. Fayose’s thugs. Please save our souls,” Olatubosun pleaded.
He listed Olusola Ojo (aka Alhaji) and Sunday Adebayo (aka Beleti) as the arrowheads of the attacks and who had been arrested by a combined team of soldiers, police and the DSS.
He urged the security agencies to resist the pressure by the state government to release the suspects, saying they must be prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others so that peace could reign in the state.
