The Nigeria women national team spokesperson has been confirmed dead in Abuja on Thursday morning after a brief illness
Gracious Akujobi, Super Falcons media officer has died, the Nigeria Football Federation has sadly announced.
The 37-year-old versatile journalist, who was formerly the spokesperson of the Nigeria women U17 team Falconets, passed away on Thursday morning at the General Hospital, Maitama, Abuja.
“This is a very tragic occurrence. Gracious was such an energetic, hardworking officer and her death has come as a terrible shock. Her commitment to the job was never in doubt,” said NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi.
“The NFF is in deep mourning with her family over this tragedy.”
Before her demise, Akujobi was with the Falcons at the recently concluded Fifa Women’s World Cup in Canada. The team is currently preparing for an Olympic Games qualifier against Equatorial Guinea.
