We Voted APC Because Suswam Owes Us – Benue State Workers

imageMany civil servants in Benue State voted heavily for the All progressives Congress (APC) and other minor political parties because of the salaries owed to them by the state government, Leadership reports.

The state workers have insisted that there is no need voting the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) even as it is the leading party in the state.

They said the party had caused the non-payment of their salaries for several months.

The Benue state government led by Governor Gabriel Suswam has not paid salaries of workers for months, including that of academic and non-academic staff of tertiary institutions in the state that are currently on strike.

During the presidential and National Assembly elections yesterday, the visibly angry workers who formed the majority of the voting strength of the agrarian state, blatantly refused to vote for the PDP.

The residents of Benue State had earlier taken measures to mitigate the effect of any possible post-election violence.
