“It is with a heavy heart I say goodbye.”
Matt LeBlanc has shared a farewell tribute to Matthew Perry, who died on October 28, and it is a true testament to their friendship off the screen as well as on.
“Matthew. It is with a heavy heart I say goodbye. The times we had together are honestly among the favorite times of my life,” LeBlanc wrote on Instagram, accompanied by a carousel of Friends stills showing the two actors as TV best friends Joey Tribbiani and Chandler Bing.
“It was an honor to share the stage with you and to call you my friend,” LeBlanc’s post continued. “I will always smile when I think of you and I’ll never forget you. Never. Spread your wings and fly brother you’re finally free. Much love.” In true Joey fashion, LeBlanc ended his message with a joke: “And I guess you’re keeping the 20 bucks you owe me.”
Matt LeBlanc’s personal tribute comes after the entire Friends cast released a joint statement following Perry’s death. “We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family,” they wrote, per People. “There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.”
